A Sweet Tour of Paris – Stroll oldie foodie streets.  Buy from the local farmers’ market.  Create a delicious, fresh meal and plate it like a chef. Pick wild mushrooms and learn to shell scallops. Hear all the medieval gossip on a walking tour of the Latin Quarter. Go to pastry school and create to-die-for éclairs. Sail along the Seine by bateau-mouche making baguettes with a baguette master. Sip in the same Montmartre cafés as Lautrec, Renoir, Picasso and Van Gogh. On the plane home, wonder how a week could go by so fast but cherish new friends, memories and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Northern Italy – You'll learn to make beautifully simple dishes, handed down through generations, from Michelin starred Chef Riccardo dePra.  Stay in Chef Riccardo’s farmhouse in the Dolada Mountains. Explore forests, lakes and the countryside while foraging for ingredients in order to create an unforgettable dinner under his instruction. Make cheeses that will leave you speechless. Get in touch with your sweeter side as you work with honey from the property. Find out how a simple picnic can be a feast for the senses. Dine in world class restaurants. Whip up heavenly Italian desserts and take in a coffee tasting with a bean master. Spend a morning with one of the world’s most iconic winemakers in the region, and an evening with Mauro Lorenzon, one of the most charismatic sommeliers in Venice.

Example Trip: A Sweet Tour of Paris

DAY 1 - On your first morning, we welcome you to the culinary school for a breakfast briefing; the culinary school that you will call home for the next week. Café au lait and traditional French pastries will be served. After that, we roll up our sleeves, put on our baking hats and start the week making the much loved pain au chocolat and the buttery, flaky pastry named for its distinctive crescent shape; the croissant. After class, you can enjoy your buttery creations during a lunch break along the Seine River, located opposite the school. In the afternoon, there is an optional walking tour around the city during which you can visit some of the most famous Paris landmarks in the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at a traditional, cozy and chic Parisian bistro where the group will get to talk about the day’s kitchen adventures over vin rouge and traditional French fare.

DAY 2 - Spend the morning with a chef touring one of the oldest markets in Paris; the Maubert Market. Learn how to pick the best products and compose your luncheon menu with our chef. After our market visit we take a pleasant walk through the Île Saint Louis and return to our cooking school with bags full of fresh market fare for a hands-on cooking class. There is no set menu in this class; it is up to the group and the chef to be creative and choose their menu based on the fresh fish, meats and produce sourced at the market. We then enjoy the fruits of our labor accompanied by wine.  After our kitchen adventures, we head off on a sweet walking tour of Paris. We will visit some French patisseries, including those famous for macarons, and a ‘chocolate temple’ run by one of France’s most famous Michelin starred chefs.

DAY 3 – We start with a luxurious brunch in the center of Paris at a sinfully delicious location. You will have the morning free to explore Paris and some of its hidden haunts. Then we will join in the afternoon for a macaron making class. You will learn from top Parisian pastry chefs, and specifically the secrets to the perfect macaronage such as how to whip your egg whites to perfection for this delectable dessert.  Your evening is free to explore Paris’s wine bars, bistros and restaurants at your leisure. Recommendations will be provided.

DAY 4 - Today you will master the art of ‘Choux’ pastry, which is the base for many famous desserts such as éclairs, profiteroles, Brest and more!  In the afternoon there is an optional Bike Tour, or Champagne tasting cruise on the Seine River.

DAY 5 - In our last class of the week, we learn the secrets of the French baguette and breads. You will learn to knead and work your bread by hand and learn to make various other French breads.  All breads will be baked fresh and will be enjoyed with French jams and butter after the class. Alternatively, you can take your breads down to the Eiffel Tower where you can enjoy wine, cheese and bread while soaking up the ambience of Paris’ greatest tower.  On our final evening, gather for a final Farewell Celebration Dinner where we can toast the end of a fabulous foodie week over a feast of traditional delicious French fayre.
